We celebrated Cade and Brooks' birthdays on April 27th, 2013.
We had a train themed birthday party and the colors were red and blue. We had a great time!! I hope you enjoy all of the photos courtesy of Molly Rene Photography and Uncle Justin.
We started off before the party taking pictures on the front porch under the "Train Station" banner.
Here are some additional shots of the decorations and details of the party:
A shot of the awesome train that daddy made for the party!!! We worked hard on this and it was the hit of the party!
There were two different train playing stations set up for the kids to play at. One was a table and the other was on the ground for the smaller children.
I set up the table for the party favors with pictures of the boys that we took along with "The Little Engine that Could" book for everyone to autograph that came to the party.
The cake and 3 dozen cupcakes were made by "Cakes by Melissa" from Watson. She did a GREAT job, it they were super yummy!!
The birthday boy's special table!
The food table was so cute!! I made this little food train with a wooden train at the beginning. Unfortunately there weren't that many pictures of the finished food table, but we had the following selections:
Train Cars: Log Car (cheese sticks and pretzel sticks), Veggie Car (carrots & sugar snap peas), Animal Car (animal crackers), Coal Car (olives), and Sandwich Car (train shaped jelly sandwiches)
We also had pasta salad, Conductor Fuel (meatballs and mini hot dogs), fruit salad, and Diesel Fuel (Strawberry lemonade punch)
The party favors consisted of these cute little train whistles, train bubbles and train suckers complete with a little tag that said "Thank you for celebrating with us, Cade & Brooks".
It was time to get the party started!!!!
Cade was so excited all day, once people started arriving he jumped right into the action!! Brooks is always a little more hesitant in large crowds, so it took him a little while to warm up to all of the action!
I also had this cardboard train set up that the kids could play inside and color on the outside. It was so much fun, until it got ripped down by some of the older kids, but it was fun while it lasted!!
The railroad track that Dani and her friend Victoria made down the driveway was a detail that was not overlooked, it was so cute and the kids loved driving their little cars up and down the driveway on it.
We had bubble machines going for some extra fun while playing with the trains and other toys.
Everyone seemed to have a great time playing at all of the different "stations"!!
Finally it was time for the first train ride!!
Off they go on the "Choo Choo"!
Brooks even helped drive one of the rounds......
Dani and her friend Victoria were a great help the whole time!! They took up train tickets for the train ride, headed up the back to make sure everyone was safe on the trailer, helped with the present unwrapping/organizing and all of the cleaning up!! They got to have a camp out the following weekend in the yard for all of their hard work, see their fun weekend here.
Next it was time to open presents...which was interesting at first because Cade kept saying that is "My present", but he shortly realized it wasn't just his party!! Luckily there were PLENTY of presents for each of them to open!! We went pretty quickly through each present because there was a HUGE stack of gifts that we had to get through.
They got a lot of cars, trucks, bubbles, yard toys, clothes, a giant piano, a scooter, some money, books, and tools.
Here is their final stash of loot that they got....whew!! It took me a couple of days to clear all of this out, but it was a great excuse to clean out the toy box and start fresh. The boys LOVED all of their toys that they received. They are lucky little boys to have so many family and friends that love them so dearly. I think next year we might ask for just one toy each though :)
Then it was time to sing Happy Birthday and cut the cake.....
We were having some trouble with the wind so daddy had to get creative to block it so we had time to sing before the candles blew out. (you can't see it, but we had four big guys that were holding a cardboard shield over the boys' heads to block the wind)
They both really enjoyed their cupcakes!!
I think everyone had a great time at the party and we had a great turnout, my total headcount was 78 people!! That was the first time I have thrown a party and all of the food was GONE!! I am so glad everyone enjoyed the party and the boys had a blast.
Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped out. Especially to my awesome hubby who worked so hard on making that adorable train and helping me put up ample decorations!! To Heather for going out of her way to pick up the cake and cupcakes, and to my mom and sister for helping to pull together all of the last minute details! I was told several times that it looked like a Pinterest party, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!
Happy birthday to my precious little men!!
Until next year......
