Happy Thanksgiving

We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!

We sure had a lot of fun.

We started off the night before Thanksgiving with a trip to Uncle Steve's camp where daddy and Grandpere were deer hunting and we pulled up just in time to hear Daddy shoot a deer!!

Cade said "What's that mom, that scared me" when he heard the gunshot as we were driving up.

So the boys got to experience their first dead deer....sounds so fun, I know!!

But Brooks LOVED it. He was touching the paw, tail, and he even tried to ride it like a horse.....

Cade on the other hand, just sat back and observed and said "Mommy he's sleeping"

Then Brooks decided to try and pick up the deer and reached down and touched all over the bloody part...DISGUSTING!! But he got a kick out of it and we quickly washed his hands off....

Here are my little hunters watching daddy and Grandpere skin the deer from afar....really far away!! We decided they were a little young to witness all of that so we took them back to where they really couldn't see at all.

Seriously....they are the cutest hunters ever!!

Then they got interested in playing with some flashlights....

We all ate dinner together and had a fun night at the camp.....

The next day we went back to the camp where we were having Thanksgiving lunch. We had a huge spread of food and it was all wonderful!!!

The boys ate their lunch well and enjoyed plenty of dessert afterwards....Cade enjoyed the ham and rolls while Brooks chomped down on it all!

Cade made a new friend at the camp that weekend...the dog "Camp It". He would just hang out with her and pet her, it was sweet and really made us realize that it is time for a new puppy!! We are now on the waiting list for a dog!!

We also had a little accident earlier that morning as we were all getting ready. The boys were playing in the tub and Brooks took a fall and busted his eye on the drain!!! Of course nothing was open for us to take him to get looked at but we decided that between the family vet, doctor, and eye doctor hopefully someone could fix him up. So cousin Jordan was the lucky one to glue his busted eye back together with some dermabond....Brooks was NOT happy about it though!!

Then we had fun playing around the house, camp and outside. We took some family pictures and enjoyed the beautiful weather reflecting on all that we are thankful for!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you took time to reflect on all that you are thankful for, we are certainly blessed!!!

"O Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms."
Psalm 95:1-6

18 Months!

HAPPY 18 MONTH BIRTHDAY TO BROOKS!

The last year and a half has just flown by, what a joy Brooks is in our lives!! He is the sweetest, cutest, most energetic child I know and he sure does keep us young. I always joke that I don't need to work out because keeping up with his pace helps me to stay in shape!

Some fun facts since our last update:

-He weighs 28.5 lbs (75th%) and is 32.5 inches tall (50th %) and developmentally he is off the charts at 23 months!! Here is a pic of him at his checkup..silly boy!!

-His favorite play mate is his brother. He loves to aggravate Cade just like a younger brother should. Anything Cade has he wants and he is usually Cade's shadow, mimicking his every move. Most of the time they get along and it is such a joy getting to watch them grow up together being so close.

-THE BOY LOVES TO EAT!! He is constantly hungry and is very verbal about what he wants. His favorite snack is cheese sticks or fruit snacks. Thankfully he is not a very picky eater, like his brother, he will eat pretty much anything.

-He is talking a lot now and he can pretty much tell you whatever he wants. Today he said "Cade where are you??!" which is the most words in a sentence he has yet to put together.

-He loves to make messes. His favorite thing to do in the afternoons is rummage through the cabinets and drawers pulling everything out one by one and then on to the next mess. He does not stay amused for long.

-He does LOVE to read books and that is how you can get him to sit still the longest. He would sit in your lap for hours and read if you would let him. Such a sweet bonding time for us!! He is so precious because he has to sit in the very center of my lap and he will continue to situate himself until he is perfectly placed. It makes me giggle every time!

-Like I said he is constantly on the go, so he always sleeps well at night! He has always been my dependable sleeper.

-We are working on getting rid of the pacifier. He only gets it at night time and sometimes in the car.

-He used the potty for the first time the other night. Although I am not sure he knew what he was doing. Cade was using the potty and he was just trying to be like his big brother. It's a start though!!

-He is usually a good listener and understands what we say to him. He is really good at giving this sweet little innocent face when he gets in trouble...but it doesn't usually work.

Happy 1 1/2 year little man!! Mommy and daddy love you very much and look forward to many more birthdays and half birthdays with you!!!!!

DD & Grandpere's House

A couple of weekends ago we took a trip to Houston for the weekend and stayed with DD & Grandpere.

The boys got to attend their first Kingwood High School football game, Daddy's alma mater, where he was a star player as the center.

DD took Brooks for a trip to the toy store and they got some treats when she got back....

Cade got this dump truck and Brooks got the shopping cart...but of course they both wanted what the other one had.....

Cade also got to have some "ice cream"....when we went to the football game we were so cold that we stopped to get some hot chocolate at Starbucks, well he saw the pictures and started talking about how he wanted ice cream. So I did some quick thinking and got them to give him a cup full of whip cream and oh how yummy he thought it was!! He just ate it all up.....

We had a really fun weekend with DD & Grandpere!!
