Beta Induction

Dani recently got inducted into the National Beta Society!

She got selected due to her good grades and great behavior. It is an honor to be in this society and we are very proud of her!! Cade and I got to attend her induction ceremony.

Daddy and her mom couldn't attend due to the time of the ceremony, but we got plenty of pictures and video footage to pass along!

This picture makes me laugh!! We were trying to take a group picture when suddenly one of the mom's spilled fruit punch all over her.....you can see all of the girls reacted to the red punch slowing pouring out of the cup!!

Re-Do!! Great job girls, we are proud of you!!

Learning

Brooks has been enjoying cutting, writing, coloring and learning other skills lately.
You might wonder why this is worthy of a blog post....well because usually he is such a busy body that sitting down being still for longer than 5 minutes is a huge accomplishment.

I am thankful that he is happy engaging in learning activities and sitting still for a longer period of time! It makes our time together more enjoyable when I am trying to be patient and teach him things.
Also, isn't this face of determination the cutest??!! He get the tongue sticking out from his Daddy....

This is his first puzzle to assemble all alone!! Great job Brooks!
Keep up the good work Brooks!!!

New Orleans Swim Meet

Dani had her first swim meet of the fall season with LSU in New Orleans this weekend. We drove in for the morning and then drove home since she only had to swim one day.

Dani swam the following times:
100 Free: 1:15.46
100 Breast: 1:39.31
The goal is always to lower your times, and that's exactly what Dani did!! She has some work to put in to catch up to her age group but she is improving every swim and that is what matters....Good Job Dani!
The boys were getting a little restless, so daddy took them outside and they discovered a whole new world outside of the arena in a little cove of trees. This kept them occupied for about 2 hours and then they were very upset when we had to leave!!

Cade is learning to spell & read!

One night at bathtime, Cade said look what I did Mommy!!
While his letters are somewhat backwards, I must say I was VERY impressed that he did that all by himself!!

He is such an intelligent little boy and I have really been able to see an enthusiasm for learning since he started Pre-K!! I am thankful for a good education system for our kids here in Zachary!

Homecoming Parade

At Cade's Pre-K school if you are on the PTO and you help decorate the homecoming float then your child gets to ride in the parade!! So, we contributed the trailer and I helped minimally decorate the float (most of the time I was out of town on a vacation). Daddy drove the float in the local homecoming parade and Cade and Dani rode in the back on the trailer along with all of the other kids from Cade's school, Zachary Early Learning Center.

The theme for homecoming this year was board games, so our school decided to do the game Operation.

One of our youth girls was on the homecoming court...so we got to follow close behind her!

It was rather warm, so Brooks, Daddy and I stayed in the cool truck for the parade route. The boys thought it was fun and always talk about how we rode in the parade when we pass by the parking lot we started the parade in. Not sure if we will contribute next year to the float, but it was definitely a fun experience!

LSU vs. AL

Geaux Tigers!

Dessert and Song Show

Dani performed in her school's Dessert Show Program last night.
She sang "Let it Go" as a solo and then performed with the school choir for the finale a motown medley.

It was a cute little show, there were desserts and coffee served while you watched the show. All the kids did a great job and we were very proud of her for her performance. Make sure to watch the video footage of her performance!!

8th Grade Fall Ball

It is that time of year again....dress selection for the school dance! This year it is the 8th grade "Fall Ball" dance.

We went to a few stores and finally settled on this cute little dress about three weeks before the dance!!
Two nights before the dance I got Dani to try her dress on with her shoes, and WOAH!!! The dress was way too short!! So we went into dress emergency mode!!! I went to Dillards and JCPenney and bought up every dress I thought was cute and length appropriate and brought them home for an emergency dress fitting the NIGHT before the dance!!! Can you say give me a heart attack??!! Just a little note, most moms/stepmoms would NOT go to the lengths I did, but hey, I remember what junior high is like and this was a big deal!!

Obviously this one was out....too short, tight, revealing...not even sure what I was thinking bringing it home??!!

Dani did NOT like this one...so, voted out!

This was actually her favorite, but the length was questionable and Daddy vetoed it after making her walk around the house with her arms in the air to see high much it hiked up....

And this one was our winner!! All three parents (Josh, me and her mom) agreed that it looked the most age and weather appropriate!
And just because we all agreed....she HATED it!!

So I had one more day, meaning the DAY OF THE DANCE, to find another option. I surprised her and checked her out early from school at lunch and we went to one more store, but no luck.

I scheduled her to get her make up done at a local salon in hopes that would make her feel a little glamorous in her dress (that she hated at the moment). She was so excited when she found out she was getting her make up done!! Thanks Brooke at The Ruby Salon!

Once we put everything together, hair curled, make up on and dress together with the shoes.....she said she felt SOO beautiful!!
WHEW...mission accomplished!
And she did in fact look beyond beautiful!!!
She met up with some friends for pictures and then dinner before the dance....

It always amazes me how much older she looks next to her friends, simply because of her height but this night especially she just looked stunning!

Needless to say, Daddy went home and cleaned his shotguns real good!! Just kidding....but really!!

She said she had a great time with all of her friends and it was certainly a night to remember!!

Until next time!
