Funny Story Friday-Crazy Momma!!

This picture was taken at Don's Seafood in Hammond, LA
(no, that is not a real alligator)

You may be asking, why were we eating at Don's in Hammond when we have them in Baton Rouge.....well that is such a funny story!!

On the first weekend of September Dani was scheduled to fly here for Labor Day weekend. I had to call and change something last minute with the flight arrangements and while on the phone with the airline I realized....

I BOOKED HER FLIGHT ARRANGEMENT BACKWARDS!!!!!!!
(from Baton Rouge to Houston instead of Houston to Baton Rouge)

AHHHHH!!!! This was seriously a worst nightmare of mine coming into reality!!!

I was in a panic!! It was about 4 hours until she was supposed to arrive and I DID NOT know what to do. The lady at United airlines said there were ZERO flights available until Labor day??!!! WHAT??? That is not ok, we Hs to get her here!! Not only would we hate to miss out on any precious time we have with Dani, but Josh's parents who live nearby to Dani's moms house in Houston, were out of town and Dani's mom was going out of town as well, so we HAD to get her here.

Luckily the United lady found a flight into New Orleans that night which normally wouldn't be an issue at all, we had plenty of time to get there. However, this was about 1 day after Hurricane Isaac made landfall over New Orleans and surrounding parishes and had FLOODED areas all around New Orleans, specifically one area called Laplace which as a result had the interstate to New Orleans CLOSED!!!!!

We decided we needed to get in the car immediately and figure out our route to get there as we were driving. I instantly began praying because by what we were hearing on the radio and through facebook traffic was a mess and it was going to take A LONG TIME to get there....I was never going to be forgiven for this one!! I just started praying that "somehow God please make a way for us get to Dani on time" because in reality we just didn't have enough time with all of the different obstacles we were facing.

On our way down the interstate we heard that the interstate at Laplace had just been re-opened, HALLALUJAH!!!! God is awesome. We still had about 30 more minutes make up but at least we wouldn't be over an hour late getting her (which isn't a problem really since they are required to keep her under supervision until we get there, but who really wants that to happen??)

Meanwhile we get a text from Dani that Neal Armstrong's body is being flown into the airport in Houston so she was delayed by 30 minutes!!! I teared up and just prayed thanking God for intervening in our situation. Even though it was a horrible mistake that I made that has haunted me in my dreams, it all worked out. Josh was so sweet and really didn't rub it in too bad :)

So, on our way home we decided we were worthy of a delicious seafood dinner at Don's!!

Total trip time was approximately 6 hours and I am sure that this is one of those stories that will haunt me for a long time....crazy mommy!!

But, what really matters is that we got Dani here safely and we had a great, long weekend together!!

HAPPY FRIDAY YA'LL!!!

CADE'S FIRST LSU GAME!!

September 15, 2012
Cade's First LSU Game
LSU vs. IDAHO

This was such a proud night for both Josh and I as parents and alumni of LSU......

Tiger Stadium got a little face lift in the off season...it looks really great, I personally like the purple and gold lights that light up the inside of the walkways!

Cade watching the band enter the stadium....

A little pre-game fun, throwing sticks at trees by the stadium.....

And here he is officially sitting in the stands of Tiger Stadium, aka Death Valley, for the first time and definitely not the last!!
One of my most favorite pictures EVER of the two of us!! He was so excited!!

Watching the pre-game performance by the Golden Band from Tiger Land....

As we all know Cade is more of an observer like his daddy, he was just taking it all in!

The best part was when the jets flew over the stadium for the National Anthem, he thought that was so awesome, after the loud noise was over!

Such a sweet picture, I love his little hands here, he was still a little unsure of everything...

Wahoo...and here come the TIGERS!!!!!

Josh was being silly and impersonating Cade....haha

We thought he would enjoy a pretzel because of the salt (the child LOVES salt, yes just plain salt) but he kept choking bc the salt was a little much, so we reverted to mom's purse and all the snacks I stashed in there for him...

I tried to teach him all of the cheers, he participated well and caught on very quickly to high five when we got a touchdown and scream to keep the other team from making a play!!

Cheering on the Tigers, trying to help the defense block the other team on 4th down.....

And right before halftime and bedtime...he began to wind down, it was time to go home!!

We all had a blast at Cade's first game, it was so fun watching him experience all of the excitement of Death Valley for the first time!! It is just the beginning of many fun years to come in his days of a little Tiger Fan!!!! I can't wait to do it again soon with Brooks.....

As Cade says," GEEEEEAUX TIDERS!!!!"
(yes, I purposely mis-spelled TIGERS)

LSU won the game, 63-14!

THANKS TO DD & GRANDPERE FOR LETTING US USE THEIR TICKETS AND MAKING THIS AN EXPERIENCE WE WILL ALWAYS CHERISH!!!!

Family Fun Day

A couple of weeks ago, Aunt Iris, Uncle Justin and Cousin Briggs came in town for a visit from Birmingham, AL. Justin's family lives here as well so our time is usually split between each other. This time we had Sunday to spend together so we made the most of it....

We started off eating at Chimes at LSU and then took a little visit to see Mike the Tiger and some LSU attire pre-season shopping at the LSU store.

 The boys looking for Mike....

Mike must have been tired from the first game of the season the night before because he just slept the whole time! Brooks tried barking at him....but still he didn't budge.

Cute pic of Brooks modeling the hat from the LSU store...

Then we took the party back to our house in Zachary and the boys & Dani played outside for a long time....

Don't I have the most adorable little nephew ever??? Luckily I get another one in February!!!! We just found out that Aunt Iris is having another boy and we are so excited to meet little Parker....

Just doing a little bug catchin'.....

Dani is so silly!!!

I love my big sis!!!

Briggs got his truck stuck in the mud, so Brooks came over for some assistance....

First he tried to push him out, Briggs was saying "Push harder Brooks"......

and then he winched the 4-wheeler up and was finally able to pull him out!!

(ok so not really, but it was a cute story right?? I am sure one day we will have a similar one to tell!!)

Beautiful Dani....

Then Uncle Justin did a little photo opp in the backyard of the boys together....I mean seriously...
THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!!

We ended the day with feeding the ducks at the pond....

Briggs decided it was more fun for him to eat the bread.....

We had a really great day together and it is always so much fun watching the boys get to spend time together and play!!

Unfortunately we ended on a not so great note....

The boys got in the bath together after we went to feed the ducks before they left for the night and all of a sudden Briggs started screaming, and Brooks looks up at me with those innocent angel eyes of his and immediately I knew what happened.....

Yep, that's right Brooks bit his sweet little cousin!! He got a nice little spanking from daddy and had to give Briggs a hug and tell him "he was sorry". Poor little Briggs, luckily Justin and Iris didn't hold it against us too long and decided not to press charges..J/K.

But in spite of the bite we still had a great day spending time together!! Love you all and we look forward to our next visit!!!
