Field Trip

I had the pleasure of being a chaperone for this cutie's field trip to the LSU Parker Coliseum for Ag Day!
We saw a lot of fun things like farm animals, sea animals, we learned a lot about Louisiana and had fun doing it!! This is Cade and his good buddy Joshua from his class.
Aunt Heather kept Judd for me and snuggled him while I was gone!

We had such a fun time, Cade was sad to leave!

Mud Lovin' Boys

It seems like no matter where we go these days, somehow, someway, these boys find some kind of mud to get into!!

Boys, boys, boys......they love mud!!

I see many days in my future full of muddy laundry....and I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Funny Story Friday

Recently we had a situation with Dani that turned into quite the learning opportunity!
The last two years she has had the opportunity to go to Disney World with choir at school. The trip is at a great price, but still upwards of $500-600 per year. Last year she raised a total of $1 towards her trip and we and her  mom split the cost of her trip. This year we had an understanding that she would help more towards raising the money through the fundraisers and turns out she raised a total of $5 this year!! While her profit did quadruple in size....she still didn't contribute near what we had hoped she would.
Her mom called us one night close to when the trip money was due concerned that Dani was becoming ungrateful for things she has and that she doesn't appreciate things we do give her because she is just used to getting everything she needs or wants. We assured her that we felt like that wasn't the case but that we would have a conversation with her about it to make sure.

Josh opened up the conversation and asked why she hadn't raised the money to go on the Disney trip like other kids did, some paying for their whole trip through fundraising. She replied "because they don't have parents that can afford to pay for their whole trip"!!

Woah!!! That was the WRONG answer....just a simple question turned into a 2 hours conversation about what being grateful means, how undeserving she is of the things she gets in relation to God's love for us and Jesus dying on the cross. It was intense and concluded with her assignment for Josh to even consider letting her go on the trip was 1. she had to come up with a list of how she was going to raise the money back over the summer and 2. somehow make him believe that she is grateful for the things she has and appreciates all we do for her.
You can see she wrote a nice apology letter and then came up with a detailed plan of how to raise the money back over the next few months. In the end she was allowed to go to Disney world, and hopefully this was a learning lesson for her that she will always remember.

I am sure there are many more lessons to learn......stay tuned!

Swim Meet

Dani recently had her first and only swim meet of the season at Tiger Aquatics.

She swam the 100 free, 100 breast and 50 free on the long course.

She improved all of her times:

50 Free: 37.22 (previous time was 39.95)
100 Free: 1.23.90 (previous time was 1.44.18)
100 Breast: 1.53.77 (previous time was 2.00.83)

Awesome job Dani!!

Meanwhile the other boys were angels, sat and enjoyed the short meet in the AC.
The second meet day we had a little extra time on our hands so we took a tour of LSU before the meet started....

Tiger cage and Indian mounds

And back to the meet we went....sometimes you just have to change a diaper where you have space...on the bleachers!! Judd was a little trooper the whole time, thank goodness!!

Way to go Dani and all the Tiger Aquatics swimmers! We are always so proud of you!!

First Tball Game

T-ball has begun!! This year Daddy is the head coach of the team so we were able to get a lot of the kids we know on our team, we are looking foward to a fun spring at the baseball park!!

Up to bat first is Brooks....

And then Cade is the "clean up batter"

All the kids did a great job for their first game! We have a total of 12 kids on the team.

Their best bud Gage is on the team too, thankfully Uncle Tommy agreed to be assistant coach so that we could all play together!

Judd and I were their biggest fans in the stand!

Life plan come true!! We always said in college, back in our dating years, that one day we would live together in the same city, raise our kids together and Josh and Tommy could coach every sport together!! I love that it is actually happening and we are loving every minute of it! We love the Gould family!
Dani wasn't there for the first game but she has made it out to support the boys for several of their games this year. She is a great help with the players during the game too!!

Here is to a great season!! Go Nationals!
