Hurricane Isaac

A couple of weeks ago the boys got to experience their first hurricane...Hurricane Isaac!!

We started the first day with a good meal....we have learned never take advantage of the power in these situations!!

We had a good hurricane supply stash complete with candles, batteries, lighters, flashlights, food, water, food, and more food.....

And of course we had our trusty generator, which wasn't very trusty this time because it broke in the middle of the night. Luckily we had power restored a few hours later!! And when you live in LA you need an AC window unit, which is not pictured, but don't worry it is one of the best hurricane supplies to have handy!!

Me and the boys enjoying the wind....they thought it was so fun that the wind was blowing so hard!

Brooks is all ready to weather the storm with his rubber boots on, luckily he has a food storage supply for days in that belly of his....J/K!

Checking the weather.....
Playing in the wind again before the rain comes.....

Cade just wasn't too sure about it all....

And then he realized that playing in the rain was so much fun!!!

The weather started to get worse so we had to go inside and entertain the boys.....

And then we got to go back out for a little while....Daddy created a little contraption for Brooks' cozy truck....let's just say that was a horrible idea....the garbage bag sail worked, but he ran into the fence which caused his little mouth to hit the steering wheel, busting his lip....my response "they are too young for your stupid stunts"....I apologized later, but seriously....

We watched lots of movies....luckily we have a plentiful selection....

And then we went back out for another round of playtime once the wind calmed down some....

They thought it was funny to hit each other with their push toys....

So we decided to put some helmets on them for their safety.....

I would say that this is the most damage we got from the hurricane. Luckily we mainly just got a lot of rain and wind and we were fortunate for this hurricane to have a minimal effect on our lives. I would say this was probably a "good" first hurricane for the boys to experience!
And of course, Josh never lets an opportunity to have fun pass him by. You make the boy stay inside for longer than 24 hours and he has cabin fever.....
Remember that garbage bag said that busted Brooks lip?? Well our friends Jeremy and Steph came over for a warm dinner before our power went out for the night and they guys had this bright idea to put the garbage bag sail to the true test.....

SO they connected it to the razor scooter and it was a success....we had neighbors all down our street watching out their windows. I provided us with some great entertainment and they had a lot of fun!!

They eventually created a massive sail out of a tarp and hooked the razor scooter and the electric scooter together...it was hilarious and it actually worked!! I didn't get a pic of that one because it got too dark, but trust me, it was definitely awesome!!

Like I said Hurricane Isaac was not that bad for us. We got a whole week off of work between the hurricane days and Labor day, so it was some nice, relaxing family fun days. Unfortunately that was not the case for everyone. This storm certainly devastated many areas and we continue to pray for those who lost their houses and whose lives were disrupted because of Isaac.
