Last weekend we had TWO crawfish boils in one day!!
First was Daddy's work party at White Oak Plantation. It's always fun for the kids, they have great food, inflatable slides, face painting and balloon animals.
We kicked it off with eating some good food! Cade took down about a pound of crawfish and Brooks stuck with the hot dogs. He hasn't quite opened up to the idea of crawfish yet.
Then it was off to the slide! Cade was full force ready to go! He took his first slide backwards on the belly and I believe he may have gotten a slight little "rug" burn on his tummy! He went back up the stairs to the top of the slide and wouldn't come back down. The guy working the slide eventually had to go up and get him.
Brooks on the other hand, played it safe and stayed by mom. It is really odd but when we are at places that are unfamiliar to him and where there are people he doesn't know, he gets really shy and chilled out and just wants to be held and left alone. If you know Brooks well, this would probably shock you to know that he isn't full force everywhere he goes, but I think that's pretty normal at this age!
He pretty much walked around with his hands in his pockets the whole time, which gave him plenty of attention because he looked so stinkin' cute!
They enjoyed watching the fish in the fountain! Cade kept asking for Josh to go get his fishing pole out of the truck, he just couldn't understand how inappropriate that would be! Josh was proud!
Face painting was OUT OF THE QUESTION for both of the boys!! We made the mistake of telling Cade that the clown would be painting faces at the party and he got freaked out real quick. So when we got there just the mention of face painting turned got him skiddish!
However, as soon as he saw a little boy with a spiderman balloon character....we were all about standing in line for that one!! The little ballon making guy was quite talented and could make a large variety of characters. We didn't have to look at the list though, Cade was very sure about what he wanted!!
Brooks on the other hand was not interested in either....yes, that is him sitting between Josh's legs playing with the rocks.....
Cade was a happy little boy when he finally got his spiderman balloon after waiting patiently in the line......Pretty cool!!
Then daddy set out on a missing to hopefully rid Cade of his fear of the inflatable slide.....
BUT he had to go up the stairs to get him to come down, so he took Brooks with him and they all slid down together, both boys screaming and all!! SO FUN! Ha, he didn't make him go up the slide again.
After making the rounds talking to all of Daddy's employees and introducing the kiddos, it was off to crawfish boil #2 for our church Sunday School class!
We had some great cooks, Daddy being best!
Cade went straight to the inflatable jumper....he kept trying to convince Brooks to take his shoes off and come jump, but Brooks once again, just wanted to hang out with his hands in his pockets!
He did eventually go into the yard with some of the younger kids to play with some of the toys, very cautiously, as long as he could see either me or Josh.
And he stayed real close to us the whole time!! Which was fine with me, I love hanging with my little man!
Brooks was checking out the crawfish to make sure they were cooking them right.....And Cade was watching all of the older kids play with the live ones.....
Family pic...(minus Dani) unfortunately she missed out on all of the fun since it was a weekend with her mom, we ate plenty of crawfish for her though!
The boys loved their Popsicles that Mrs. Tess gave them!
Especially Brooks, I think that was the highlight of his day!
And this was Cade's, he LOVED the jumper!! At one point he was in it with about 10 older kids which made my nerves on edge, but he was playing with the best of them jumping and falling around them! Cade had so much fun!!
He even hung in there with all of the adults eating the SPICY crawfish!! I ate one of the potatoes out of this batch and I couldn't get my mouth to stop burning! Cade seriously ate about a pound and never thought twice about it. The boy LOVES his crawfish, which is so weird because he is normally so picky about food, but crawfish is one thing he will seriously devour!!
He was waiting for Josh here to peel him some more, Josh couldn't peel them fast enough!
We had a great & fun day with all of our co-workers, friends and church family!!!
Until next time....
