Birmingham Trip

A couple of weeks ago we took a trip to Birmingham, AL for the weekend to visit some family and for Brigg's second birthday party.

Our trip started off on Thursday night and we made a pit stop in Pearl, MS to eat dinner with Jenna, Jordan and Bailey at Logan's Roadhouse.

The kids were able to run off some energy and we got a good visit in before it was time to hit the road again.

We got in about 11 p.m. that night and woke up on Friday morning to this little guy turning 2 years old!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKS! See more from our birthday celebration here.

Shortly after we woke up Uncle Russ, RaRa, Great Nana, and Poppa all arrived.....

As most of you probably know, Great Nana is known for her short visits so we had to take a couple of pics of her while we could!! She stayed about 2 hours enjoying the grand babies and then she was off!

She enjoyed holding Parker and watching the other  little ones run around playing!

Once Great Nana left, Gramme and Pa arrived shortly after. Coincidentally the SEC baseball tournament was in Birmingham the same weekend and the game for LSU vs. Alabama was going on that afternoon. So the guys (minus Pa and Poppa) took off to the game with some free tickets we got from some friends and the girls and kiddos all took a little "field trip" to the park!

The guys had some great seats and LSU won the game in extra innings...it was a great, exciting game!! LSU advanced on to win the SEC title as well...GEAUX TIGERS!

Meanwhile at the park, I whipped out my camera while the kids were having a BLAST and took some pics....

Okay...maybe we had a little fun too!!

Then we went back home for some dinner...picnic in the yard!

They boys all played hard a little longer

and then it was bath time!!

They were so adorable in their little PJ's I mean I just couldn't pass up the picture opportunity!

Story Time....

And then Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Iris & Uncle Justin left all of the kids with the grandparents/great grandparents and went out for a night on the town!!

Saturday was the big birthday party celebration....see here for more on that!

Then shortly after we got home from the party the rest of my dad's side of the family (minus a few) came over for lunch and visiting!

While we were all outside taking some family pictures we saw a "topless man" (which is what I screamed when I saw him) sprint across the street from between the houses. We all thought it was very strange and shortly after the police cars came zooming down the street chasing after him!!! We directed them towards the area that he ran and then took all of the kids back into the house as the men (aka daddy) became armed and dangerous!! We started hearing sirens and finally determined that a few of us should get in the car to see what happened. A few streets over the captured the "topless man", he was pretty "HIGH" on something and apparently he was being a disturbance and running from authorities. They eventually loaded him on a stretcher and took him away in the ambulance. Talk about some major excitement added to the family day though!

We had a fun filled weekend in Bham!! It always flies by when we have visits together because we stay sooo busy!! But it was so nice to get to see all of the family and spend some great, quality time together. Thankfully we have some great pics to remember the wonderful times we spent together.

Thankful that God blessed me with such a wonderful, supportive, and loving family!!! Still praying that my parents will move closer but we know that God's timing is perfect even though we don't always understand it.

Love you all!!

Until next time....

A Great Start to the Summer

This week we kicked off the summer to a great start!!

Dani spent the first day of her summer with Aunt Mandi on the LSU lakes learning how to YOLO board...they had a blast!! See more on that here.

We had our first watermelon...super yummy!!

It's always good to cool off with a good popsicle...

I took Dani one day to the new "waterpark" called Cajun Lagoon with her friend Blair....they had a blast!! I also enjoyed my toes in the sand, relaxing with no little boys running around me, almost feeling like I was at the beach.

I took Cade to get fitted for ear plugs since the boys start swim lessons next week....

Before (he had no idea why we were there)                                     (After)

Luckily we got the ear plugs because we had a fun Saturday playing in the blow up pools, splash pad, and slip and slide.....

Summer is off to a great start!! Sadly, Dani goes to her mom's house tomorrow for 7 weeks but we have promised to keep each other updated and we have a couple of fun things planned for the end of the summer before school starts.

Stay tuned!

Girls Night Out in New Orleans

We had a fun girls night out to kick off the summer!! Dani, Aunt Mandie and I took a little short road trip to New Orleans for girls night out to see the Broadway play "Wicked".

We got all dressed up and were ready to go out for the night!!

We decided since we were dressed up all fancy we would make it a fun night and go out to eat as well at a well known New Orleans restaurant. After many recommendations we selected Redfish Grill.....

I got the grilled redfish topped with shrimp in a lemon butter sauce which was so delicious!!! Aunt Mandie got the pesto shrimp pasta and Dani got the New Orleans shrimp and grits. Everyone seemed pleased with their dinners...then it was off to the play!

First though we had to document Dani's first trip on to Bourbon street, since that is where the restaurant was located. Luckily we only had to go one block in to get to our restaurant but it was still picture worthy. We didn't allow her to go any further and told her to keep her eyes on us, but she still got a pretty good whiff of how Bourbon really smells!!

Then we took a short drive to the theatre....

Throwing up the "W" for Wicked....

This was the only picture I got before we got in trouble for taking pics. The seats were very good and we REALLY enjoyed the performance!! I have always wanted to see this play since I went to New York many years ago. I am so glad that I got to take Dani with me to experience it, especially since we recently saw the Wizard of Oz at the High School. It was a fabulous play...one I would definitely see again!!

Thanks to DD for paying for our tickets!! We had a great time on our GNO (Girls Night Out)!

Until next time....

Teacher Appreciation-Round 2

Teacher Appreciation for Daycare was last week. I found this awesome girl in Zachary who makes the most adorable cookies and I got her to whip me up a dozen and the teachers LOVED them!! Sweet Stirrings is the name of her business and she did a fabulous job, we will definitely be using her again in years to come!!
