Zoo Day with RaRa

A couple of weeks ago my mom came in for a visit while Josh went on a family hunting trip. We had so much fun with RaRa!!

 

One morning we decided to pack up and head to the zoo....

 

The first thing that Cade wanted to do was ride the train....so off we went!!

Brooks wasn't too into the train ride....

 

Then we went to see the elephant show....

Then we went to the petting zoo.....

The boys had a ton of fun and they were really into all of the animals!! 

Thanks RaRa for coming to stay with us for a few days!!!  We always love visits from the family!!!

Pumpkin Patch & Pumpkin Carving

We took a little family trip to the pumpkin patch.....

Brooks manned the pumpkins in the wagon....

 

Cade kept throwing these little guys into the wagon....I think we wound up with 5 at the end, we paid for two and somehow came home with 1...go figure??!!

 

I tried to get them to cooperate once more for a picture....but Dani was my only willing participant

 

Since the boys didn't want to take a picture....I decided just Dani was a perfect solution....she is growing into a beautiful young lady!!

He also thought the little pumpkins were apples...hence why he is trying to eat it!!

 

Then we took our pumpkins home and had a little family fun time before we prepared them for carving.....

I decided to paint mine....

 

And then it is carving time....redneck style!! Josh doesn't like the pumpkin carving knives so he uses his drumel (sp?) and it works like a charm on those pumpkins!!!

We decided to have a contest for a winner, however they were all so good we had to award three winners:

Cade's first trip to the Dentist

On October 3rd Cade had his first trip to the dentist, Dr. Garon in Zachary.

 

This was a picture before we went inside. We had talked about going to the dentist all morning and I know he had no clue what that meant, but he was excited about it!!

 

 

In the waiting room....

There was a train on the ceiling that went around the whole office so we started counting to see how long it took to come around....

 

AND then his name was called......

The best part about the dentis....they had NEMO AND DORI!!!! (ok so it wasn't the real Nemo and Dori, but he sure thought it was) He was showing everyone, even the dentist.

 

Then the check up came....he was great though. They just looked at his teeth and brushed them with his new Buzz Lightyear brush!! 

All in all it was a great first experience...here he is smiling with his clean teeth and his new toothbrush!!!

 

Hopefully every time will go this good...YEAH right....until next time....

Two and a Half Years

Happy 2 1/2 years to Cade!!!

 

Wow, how time flies!!!

 

 

Some fun facts about Cade:

 

-He weighs 34 lbs and is 3 feet tall. He wears a size 9.5 shoe!! He is starting to slim down and look like a big boy now, it is really kid of sad, I am certainly not ready for my baby to grow up!!!!

 

-He has a very tender heart which sometimes means he gets his feeling hurt too easily. But most of the time he makes sure to take care of those around him. He is such a sweety!!! Like when we go to the grocery store and I am loading the groceries, he will yell from his carseat, "You got it mom?!"

-He is SUPER smart!!! He can count to 20, sing pretty much any song that he hears more than once, recite his ABC's, shapes and colors, he can "read" Go Dog Go" from memory! The boy seriously amazes me every day by things that he learns! Lately he has been making shapes out of his hands and saying "Mom what's this shape?".

-He is a VERY perceptive little boy. He notices things around him that children his age normally would not. He can hear airplanes coming in the sky before I do (we live close to an airport so we see them frequently), he likes to point out things he sees and knows to me while we are walking or driving in the car.

-He speaks very well for his age. He is talking in complete sentences now and his famous phrase right now is "Why not??". He likes to ask that if I tell him no about something and will continue to ask it until I give him an acceptable answer...hmm wonder where he gets that from??!

 

-He loves to play outside, slide on the slide, go for walks to feed the ducks at the pond, play in the water and he loves to "go run" as he says....and that literally means run!! He loves to watch movies, Cars and Toy Story 2 & 3 are his favorite, his favorite food is still pizza, cereal and fruit (yes, he is still an extremely picky eater).

-We are working on potty training, but so far he really isn't interested except for playing with the toilet water...GROSS!!! Occasionally he pee pee's in the potty at home, but once he goes to daycare he absolutely refuses to go near the potty....so we are waiting for him to get more comfortable there.

 

-He already loves to "go to church" and usually asks every night if we can go. He already knows that he learns about Jesus at church, I am sure he doesn't grasp fully who Jesus is, but it excites me that he knows that is what church is for!! He cracks us up every night at dinner when he says the blessing for us because we cannot understand anything he says and it is a seriously LOOONG prayer!! It must be what they say at school, but we have yet to translate it.

The last two and a half years have been so amazing for me!! Being a mom to Cade is a true blessing. He is a very joyful, compassionate, caring little boy and he already makes sure to always take care of his mommy, which melts my heart!! Don't get me wrong though, at times he certinaly loves to act tough like his daddy by riding the four wheeler or playing in the mud. Being a parent is definitely a tough job at times because you constantly worry about what the future holds for your children, but I try to be continually thankful for Cade being healthy, smart, and just simply adorable!!! I just hope and pray that Josh and I are doing all that we can to raise him into a Godly young man. We cherish him so much and our hearts overflow with joy and gratefulness for the last two and a half years with Cade being in our lives as our first born son!!!!

 

 

I will love him forever,

I will like him always,

As long as I am living my baby he will be!

Funny Story Friday....

Goldfish Explosion....

 

Every day when we get home from daycare Brooks is STARVING and just digs through the pantry for any food he can get his hands on.

 

On this particular day, he grabbed goldfish and was following me around the kitchen as I was pulling the ingredients out to make dinner, Cade was asking for juice, I was trying to pre-heat the oven, taking my high heels off so I could move at a quicker pace, on the phone with Josh talking about what time he would be home......

 

And all of a sudden I see a sea of goldfish fly into the air and ultimately land ALL OVER the kitchen floor!!!!

 

Brooks was shaking the bag as he was following me whining for me to get him a snack, and he got so frustrated that he gave the bag one hard shake and there they went!! He certainly got my attention....

 

 He decided he should just pour the rest of them out.....

 

  He did "help" me clean up....

Just so you can see how far the goldfish flew....yea that is two goldfish in my icemaker!! 

Go Dog Go

Every night we HAVE to read "Go Dog Go". It is everyone's favorite book, especially Brooks and Cade :)

 

Every night after bath time Brooks goes into his room to the bookshelf and literally throws every book off the shelf until he finds "Go Dog Go", brings it to me, sits into the center of my lap (he can't just sit on one leg or the other, it HAS to be the center) and we read the book together. He has learned the parts on which to say "Goodbye" or "Shhh" because the dogs are sleeping.

 

Cade can pretty much read the whole book by memory minus a few words here and there. It is pretty amazing, he just turns the pages and based off of his memory from me reading it so many times, he knows what each page says. Pretty soon he will be reading it to Brooks for me!!

 

The real treat is when Daddy is home and sings us Go Dog Go with his guitar!!! Then they get to dance AND listen to their favorite story....

 

Funny story, last night I tried to be sneaky and put Brooks to sleep without reading Go Dog Go and I put him in his crib and told him Night Night....he immediately stood up and pointed to the bookcase. I tried to let him cry it out for about 10 minutes, but he just couldn't get over not reading the book before he went to sleep.

 

So I went back in the room and sat in the rocking chair with him and read him the book to settle him down. We were almost at the end I hear Cade's little feet running down the hall, he peeked around the corner of the door and opened his mouth really big like he couldn't believe that we didn't include him and said "Mom, WHAT are you doing??!!" It was halarious!!

 

So Cade climbed up in the rocking chair next to us and we read it again.....

 

They both amaze me everyday by how smart they are!!!

 

 

These are the moments as a mom that I will always cherish.....
