Before school started and while Mandie and Adelaide were in town, we decided to take a quick trip to the beach with the girls and kids!
The first morning my kids were so excited to get down to the beach that we were the first ones out there!! We set up our chairs, put on sunscreen and got prepared for a great day in the sun!
The water was nice and calm for the first day! The kids searched for shells and built sand castles most of the morning.
We stayed at the Pheonix West II, which was such a nice condo!
Later Aunt Mandie and DD joined us for some fun in the sun and waves!
We took a quick lunch/nap break in the room.
We even spilled the beans about the new baby to Memom one evening!! She was thrilled.
Day 2 at the beach was just as much fun! We started out early and played all afternoon.
Brooks is NOT a big fan of the sand and beach, he is more of a pool boy so it took a lot of engaging to keep him interested and happy. But we built a few sand castles and played in the waves.
Cade was my little beach buddy!! He loved just being on the beach in the sun and waves. A few times he would just sit in the chair next to me holding my hand, enjoying the view. SOOO SWEET!!
One afternoon Dani had a friend stop by for a few hours that was also at the beach from Zachary. They had fun playing in the inflatable boat out in the water.
Brooks happiest moment of the trip may have been when he got his first blower from the toy store. He couldn't wait to get home to show Daddy!
The third morning, Brooks was pretty much over the beach and this is where he sat most of the morning!! He was the cutest sitting under the umbrella :)
We even re-enacted some of our beach pictures from about 5 years ago!! Dani has gotten slightly bigger since the last time...but she still managed to get on top!
We also took a quick photo session for the baby announcement for facebook. I found this cute idea on Pinterest and so we took to the beach for a photo opp!
Some of the pictures I can't help but laugh....and we are adding one more to this mix!!!
In the end, I think we got the perfect shot!! (Cade was unhappy because he scratched his leg, but it made for the perfect picture based off the signs)
The signs read:
Dani: "Brothers for sale"
Cade: "Baby for sale"
Brooks: "Not me!"
Mine: "Due March 2015" with a picture of the ultrasound
Our last night we went crab hunting, it got pretty serious!!
The boys were a little hesitant at first but once we started catching the crabs they were pretty excited about it!!
We caught a good many, and it was the perfect way to end our trip!
One our way home my sister was on her way back from Baton Rouge to Birmingham and we wound up crossing paths. We were able to stop for a short but sweet visit with them.
We had a great long weekend at the beach!!! Thanks DD for the trip and we look forward to next time!
