Disciple Now Weekend 2014
Beyond A Reasonable Doubt
This is Dani's first DNow weekend, and it was a good start to hopefully many more years!!
She had a great group and one of the best leaders this year. Her college leader was Morgan Ohlinger, (one of my favorite babysitters of all time and she is an awesome person) and she stayed at The Bozeman's house.
The speaker for the weekend was J. Warner Wallace, author of Cold Case Christianity. He really challenged the kids and adults to know how to defend your faith in the world today. He is a cold case detective from L.A. who used police strategies and examples and aligned them with how to prove out the gospel to those who are skeptic and even those who are not. He did a great job and was very relatable with the kids.
The band was the Jeff Kapps Band and they did a great job leading us all in captivating worship!!
It was a very challenging weekend spiritually and I am so thankful that I got to be a part of it. Josh and the boys took the weekend and went to the camp in Lake Charles and so I hosted the 10th grade girls at our house.
If you know me you know that I love to do little pranks and have a history of being the prank master back in my college days!! So our first night we did a little pranking on some of the college leaders cars, which resulted in some serious retaliation by the other groups!!
So our last night at D-Now we stayed home and defended my house from those who wanted to retaliate!! Josh made us some booby traps out of rat traps, fishing line and blank bullets that scared them off initially but in the end we were outnumbered and got pranked pretty bad by both the 7th graders (yes, Dani pranked her own house) and the 10-11th grade guys.
We got defeated but not shut down!! It was a fun night and we made some great memories that weekend complete with great worship, preaching and quality time!!
There was only a time period of about 5 hours the next day of which I was cleaning, scrubbing, and scraping ketchup, chicken noodle soup, grits, oatmeal, bird seed, flour, silly string, toilet paper, forks, cookies, and whatever else that I was slightly regretting the weekend. But that anger quickly faded to a memory of something I will always remember as my first D-Now experience as an adult and Dani's first D-now in the youth and pranking memories!!
It was a great weekend, despite the "murder scene" ending on my driveway!! Still considering if there will be a next year for us as a host home...but I am certain there will be a next year for Dani!!
Until next year!
