First Dance!

And so it begins, the dances complete with THE dress, the shoes, the hair, the make-up, group dates, boy dates....(not quite there yet) and all the fun that goes with it!!

So it all started with the last minute announcement at school THREE weeks before the actual dance that there was going to be a 7th grade dance and the theme would be a masquerade ball!!

So the search started with the dress done by Dani and her mom one weekend in San Angelo. She found this beautiful rose pink dress complete with lace and sparkles! We then went to a Mardi Gras store here in Baton Rouge and found the perfect mask to compliment the dress.

She met up with a sweet group of friends from school to take pictures and then some of the moms (and stepmom) took them to eat at a restaurant and then carpooled to the dance!!
They had fun taking sassy pictures with their masks and being silly together...and might I add don't they all look beautiful??!!

We even slipped in a family picture.....

Dani said they all had a lot of fun at the dance together. Apparently not much dancing went on, but that's not what mattered to them, and we are all okay with that!!

I would say the first dance was a huge success!!  Here is their group picture from the dance!! So Fun!

Until next time!

Gardere Initiative

Dani was able to be a part of an important organization's opening in Baton Rouge thanks to the GBRCC choir. There is a lower income area near LSU called Gardere road and there is an organization there called the Gardere Initiative that was created to bring the gospel to this troubled area in hopes of improving the crime, violence and abuse. GBRCC was invited to sing at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

I can say I was a little uneasy being in the middle of this apartment complex on a well known dangerous street, but the sheriffs were there for our protection and in the end I really felt that this organization was truly out to make a difference and hopefully they will!! So proud of Dani for being a part of this ceremony!!

Christmas Painting Tradition

Yes, yes I know I am a little late on getting this done for 2013....but hey, better late than never, right??!!

So we FINALLY went to paint our annual tradition of our Christmas plate for the 3rd year now. I am hoping we can make it to at least 10 years so that I will have a full place setting.

The kids had a lot of fun painting their hands and fingers. I decided this year we would do a Christmas wreath theme. Dani's hands were the base of the wreath, since they are so big it was a good base and then the boys put their hand prints around in a lighter color to fill in the gaps.

Dani then went back with her finger prints and made the berries. I attempted to paint the boy and names on there, but ultimately got the shop owner to straighten out my bow and spruce it up a little.

Overall I was very pleased with the outcome and it is certainly something that I will always treasure!!

I LOVE all of my Christmas plates and look forward to future years ahead of our Christmas plate painting tradition!!

Until next time...

Funny Story Friday-Playing Hookey

Last Friday morning Brooks woke up saying he was "sick" and that he needed to go to work with Daddy. So Josh quickly said okay!!! He usually only works 1/2 days on Fridays so he said it wouldn't be a big deal, he would just take the Ipad for him and they would leave by lunch. I was thinking this is going to be bad, now Cade is going to want to go too....but much to my surprise Cade said he wanted to go and play with his friends.

This little stinker was not anywhere close to being sick, but sometimes as parents, you just can't resist those sweet little faces!!! Daddy even took him to get breakfast at McDonalds! You can see how happy he was getting to go to work with Daddy!! Love it!!!

I am sure this won't be the last time he play hookey on us!!

The Lone Ranger

Daddy got these boys hooked on the Lone Ranger by letting them watch the old TV shows. Brooks is the main one that really got hooked. Cade's interest was sparked for about two days, but it has been weeks now and Brooks still loves to dress up like the "Lone Ranger"...he even got his first real cowboy hat out of the new interest!!

The cowboy boots and the cowboy hat are the new must have accessories for this little man to leave the house!!

One day I caught these sweet, precious, adorable, moments between Brooks and Boosky. These two stick together!! I mean seriously....he looks like a little model in this pic, he just makes my heart melt!

Stay tuned, I feel sure this look will stick around for a while!
